Chapter 1

1:1That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with these our eyes, which we have looked upon, and these hands of ours have handled of that Word of life,
1:2(For that life was made manifest, and we have seen it,and bear witness, and show to you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was made manifest to us)
1:3That, [I] say, which we have seen and heard, declare we to you, that you may also have fellowship with us,and that our fellowship also may be with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christos.
1:4And these things write we to you, that that your joy may be full.
1:5This then is the message which we have heard of him,and declare to you, that Theos is light, and in him is no darkness.
1:6If we say that we have fellowship with him,and walk in darkness, we lie,and do not truly:
1:7But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christos his Son cleanses us from all sin.
1:8If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and truth is not in us.
1:9If we acknowledge our sins, he is faithful and just, to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1:10If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

Chapter 2

2:1My little children, these things write [I] to you, that you sin not:and if any man sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christos, the Just.
2:2And he is the reconciliation for our sins:and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
2:3And hereby we are sure that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
2:4He that says, I know him,and keeps not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
2:5But he that keeps his word, in him is the love of Theos perfect in deed:hereby we know that you are in him.
2:6He that says he remains in him, ought even so to walk, as he has walked.
2:7Brethren, I write no new commandment to you:but an old commandment, which you have had from the beginning:this old commandment is that word, which you have heard from the beginning.
2:8Again, a new commandment I write to you, that which is true in him,and also in you:for the darkness is past, and that true light now shines.
2:9He that says that he is in that light, and hates his brother, is in darkness, until this time.
2:10He that loves his brother, abides in that light, and there is none occasion of evil in him.
2:11But he that hates his brother, is in darkness, and walks in darkness, and knows not where he goes, because that darkness has blinded his eyes.
2:12Little children, [I] write to you, because your sins are forgiven you for his Names sake.
2:13[I] write to you, fathers, because you have known him that is from the beginning. [I] write to you, young men, because you have overcome that wicked one. [I] write to you, little children, because you have known you Father.
2:14I have written to you, fathers, because you have known him, that is from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of Theos abides in you,and you have overcome that wicked one.
2:15Love not this world, neither the things that are in this world. If any man love this world, the love of the Father is not in him.
2:16For all that is in this world (as the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life) is not of the Father, but is of this world.
2:17And this world passes away, and the lust thereof:but he that fulfills the will of Theos, abides ever.
2:18Little children, it is the last time, and as you have heard that Antichrist shall come, even now are there many Antichrists:whereby we know that it is the last time.
2:19They went out from us,but they were not of us:for if they had been of us, they should have continued with us. But this comes to pass, that it might appear, that they are not all of us.
2:20But you have an ointment from that Holy one,and know all things.
2:21I have not written to you, because you know not the truth:but because you know it,and that no lie is of the truth.
2:22Who is a liar, but he that denies that Jesus is that Christos? The same is that Antichrist that denies the Father and the Son.
2:23Whoever denies the Son, the same has not the Father.
2:24Let therefore abide in you that same which you have heard from the beginning. If that which you have heard from the beginning, shall remain in you, you also shall continue in the Son,and in the Father.
2:25And this is the promise that he has promised us, even that eternal life.
2:26These things have [I] written to you, concerning them that deceive you.
2:27But that anointing which you received of him, dwells in you:and you need not that any man teach you:but as the same Anointing teaches you of all things, and it is true, and is not lying, and as it taught you, you shall abide in him.
2:28And now, little children, abide in him, that when he shall appear, we may be bold, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.
2:29If you know that he is righteous, know you that he which does righteously, is born of him.

Chapter 3

3:1Behold, what love the Father has given to us,that we should be called the sons of Theos:for this cause this world knows you not, because it knows not him.
3:2Dearely beloved, now are we the sons of Theos, but yet it is not made manifest what we shall be:and we know that when he shall be made manifest, we shall be like him:for we shall see him as he is.
3:3And every man that has this hope in him, purges himself, even as he is pure.
3:4Whoever commits sin, transgresses also the Law:for sin is the transgression of the Law.
3:5And you know that he was made manifest, that he might take away our sins, and in him is no sin.
3:6Whoever abides in him, sins not:whoever sins, has not seen him, neither has known him.
3:7Little children, let no man deceive you:he that does righteousness, is righteous, as he is righteous.
3:8He that comitts sin, is of the devil:for the devil sins from the beginning:for this purpose was made manifest that Son of Theos, that he might loose the works of the devil.
3:9Whoever is born of Theos, sins not:for his seed remains in him, neither can he sin, because he is born of Theos.
3:10In this are the children of Theos known, and the children of the devil:whoever does not righteousness, is not of Theos, neither he that loves not his brother.
3:11For this is the message, that you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another,
3:12Not as Cain which was of that wicked one,and slew his brother:and wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brothers good.
3:13Marvel not, my brethren, though this world hate you.
3:14We know that we are translated from death to life, because we love the brethren:he that loves not his brother, abides in death.
3:15Whoever hates his brother, is a manslayer:and you know that no manslayer has eternal life abiding in him.
3:16Hereby have we perceived love, that he laid down his life for us:therefore we ought also to lay down our lives for the brethren.
3:17And whoever has this worlds good, and sees his brother have need, and shuts up his compassion from him, how dwells the love of Theos in him?
3:18My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue only, but in deed and in truth.
3:19For thereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall before him assure our hearts.
3:20For if our heart condemn us, Theos is greater than our heart, and knows all things.
3:21Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we boldness toward Theos.
3:22And whatever we ask we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things which are pleasing in his sight.
3:23This is then his commandment,That we believe in the Name of his Son Jesus Christos, and love one another as he gave commandment.
3:24For he that keeps his commandments, dwells in him,and he in him:and hereby we know that he abides in us, even by that Spirit which he has given us.

Chapter 4

4:1Dearely beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of Theos:for many false prophets are gone out into this world.
4:2Hereby shall you know the Spirit of Theos, Every spirit which confesses that Jesus Christos is come in the flesh, is of Theos.
4:3And every spirit that confesses not that Jesus Christos is come in the flesh, is not of Theos:but this is the spirit of Antichrist, of whom you have heard, how that he should come, and now already he is in this world.
4:4Little children, you are of Theos, and have overcome them:for greater is he that is in you, than he that is in this world.
4:5They are of this world, therefore speak they of this world, and this world hears them.
4:6We are of Theos, he that knows Theos, hears us:he that is not of Theos, hears us not. Heereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of errour.
4:7Beloved, let us love one another:for love comes of Theos, and every one that loves, is born of Theos, and knows Theos.
4:8He that loves not, knows not Theos:for Theos is love.
4:9Herein was that love of Theos made manifest amongst us, because Theos sent that his only begotten son into this world, that we might live through him.
4:10Herein is that love, not that we loved Theos, but that he loved us,and sent his Son to be a reconciliation for our sins.
4:11Beloved, if Theos so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
4:12No man has seen Theos at any time. If we love one another, Theos dwells in us,and his love is perfect in us.
4:13Hereby know we,that we dwell in him,and he in us:because he has given us of his Spirit.
4:14And we have seen, and do testify, that the Father sent that Son to be you Savior of the world.
4:15Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of Theos, in him dwells Theos, and he in Theos.
4:16And we have known, and believed you love that Theos has in us. Theos is love, and he that dwells in love, dwells in Theos, and Theos in him.
4:17Herein is that love perfect in us,that we should have boldness in the day of judgment:for as he is, even so are we in this world.
4:18There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear:for fear has painfulness:and he that fears, is not perfect in love.
4:19We love him, because he loved us first.
4:20If any man say, I love Theos, and hate his brother, he is a liar:for how can he that loves not his brother whom he has seen, love Theos whom he has not seen?
4:21And this commandment have we of him, that he that loves Theos, should love his brother also.

Chapter 5

5:1Whoever believes that Jesus is that Christos, is born of Theos:and every one that loves him, which begat, loves him also which is begotten of him.
5:2In this we know that we love the children of Theos, when we love Theos, and keep his commandments.
5:3For this is the love of Theos, that we keep his commandments:and his commandments are not burdenous.
5:4For all that is born of Theos, overcomes this world:and this is that victory that has overcome this world, even our faith.
5:5Who is it that overcomes this world, but he which believes that Jesus is that Son of Theos?
5:6This is that Jesus Christos that came by water and blood:not by water only, but by water and blood:and it is that Spirit, that bears witness:for that Spirit is truth.
5:7For there are three, which bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the holy Ghost:and these three are one.
5:8And there are three, which bear record in the earth, the spirit, and the water and the blood:and these three agree in one.
5:9If we receive the witness of men, the witness of Theos is greater:for this is the witness of Theos, which he testified of his Son.
5:10He that believes in that Son of Theos, has the witness in himself:he that believes not Theos, has made him [a] lyar, because he believed not you record, that Theos witnessed of that his Son.
5:11And this is that record, to wit, that Theos has given to us eternal life, and this life is in that his Son.
5:12He that has that Son, has that life:and he that has not that Son of Theos, has not that life.
5:13These things have [I] written to you, that believe in the Name of that Son of Theos, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may believe in the Name of that Son of Theos.
5:14And this is that assurance, that we have in him, that if we ask any thing according to his will, he hears us.
5:15And if we know that he hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions, that we have desired of him.
5:16If any man see his brother sin a sin that is not to death, let him ask,and he shall give him life for them that sin not to death. There is a sin to death:I say not that you should pray for it.
5:17All unrighteousness is sin,but there is a sin not to death.
5:18We know that whoever is born of Theos, sins not:but he that is begotten of Theos, keeps himself, and that wicked one touches him not.
5:19We know that we are of Theos, and this whole world lies in wickedness.
5:20But we know that that Son of Theos is come, and has give us a mind to know him, which is true:and we are in him that is true, that is, in that his Son Jesus Christos:this same is that very Theos, and that eternal life.
5:21Little children, keep yourselves from idols, Amen.
